St. Paul Academy and Summit School seeks candidates for the position of boys’ and girls’ Head Cross Country Coach. This coach will serve as the Program Head for the cross country program and will be responsible for creating all conditioning and training programs for the program and executing a plan to successfully lead, develop, and nurture our student-athletes in a positive educational based athletic philosophy. Season runs from August 2024 through November 2024.

Candidates will be required to demonstrate strong organizational skills, effective communication skills with students, parents, and administration. A qualified candidate should have coaching experience in a competitive environment and in a state association like the MSHSL. Candidates should support the mission of SPA and be able to contribute to the life of the School outside of the classroom.

Other duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Creating a positive environment that promotes good sportsmanship
2. Work closely with the US and MS Athletic Director to build a coaching staff of qualified coaches
3. Well-organized and structured practices
4. Coordinating meet schedules
5. Working with the athletics administrative assistant in scheduling transportation
6. Maintaining accurate records and other required paperwork (rosters, schedules, physicals, meet results, records and individual and team accolades)
7. Provides effective supervision and evaluation of all players
8. Create a rapport with the greater community, generating interest in the program
9. Recognize contributions of all; impress upon the athletes and parents that their efforts are valued
10. Participate as a positive team member in the development and support of excellence within the Athletic Department.
