Seasonal Landscape and Grounds Attendant

Department: Part-time Arena & Grounds
Location: St. Paul , MN

SPA is currently seeking a part-time, seasonal Landscape and Grounds Attendant. Under general supervision of the Grounds Manager, the Landscape Grounds Attendant will be responsible for providing the students and users of SPA with safe and properly maintained facilities. The Grounds Department is responsible for maintaining athletic fields, landscape beds, playgrounds, green space, and parking lot facilities that meet the needs of the SPA Community.

Hours are typically 7:00 am – 3:30 pm and occasionally there may be overtime to cover special events and or to complete certain projects (seasonal).

Responsibilities Include:
• Performs specific gardening functions (i.e. planting, weeding, mulching beds).
• Maintains school grounds (i.e. mowing, turf maintenance, and tree/shrub pruning, irrigation).
• Sets up for SPA Athletic Events and rentals.
• Prepares the Athletic Fields for the seasonal athletic competition and practices.
• Supports special user groups or events, such as graduation, athletic games, tournaments, Homecoming, and Reunion Weekend.
• Ensures the safety of all users through continual inspection of property and amenities.
• Drag and stripe fields, mow fields, operate trimmer, blower, edger, tractor
• Performs light maintenance and monitors equipment.
• Maintains cleanliness of facilities and empties garbage, shovels snow, and rakes leaves.
• Communicate with users and the general public.

Successful applicants will be able to communicate well with the community, able to make decisions, and will maintain prompt and dependable work hours.

Applicants must be 18 years of age, have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record, and be available to work daytime hours and possibly weekends. Preferred qualifications include experience in ice arenas, golf courses, landscaping, and/or maintenance/custodial work.
